The ground floor of the Engel building at Hämeenlinna Art Museum hosts an exhibition by Markku Piri, whose interartistic design career of more than 30 years is characterized by a masterful command of a variety of materials. The exhibition toured the world with great success in 2011–2012 and showcases Piri’s most recent work, focusing on printed textiles and art glass

30-years designer anniversary retrospective exhibition

In the autumn of 2009 Tampere Art Museum and TR-1 Taidehalli arranged with Markku Piri his 30-years designer anniversary retrospective exhibition. It was a great critical and audience success and two years later led into the touring exhibition “The Spirit of Paradise” that travelled from Madrid and Barcelona to Lisbon, Berlin and Washington DC. Further plans exist for New York, and an extended version at the Hämeenlinna Art Museum. The Paradise exhibition features Piri’s recent work. In connection with both exhibitions, a large scale book was published.
